#GhanaSaysNo to #Corruption ~ ‘I’m coming for you’ – Special Prosecutor to returning officers who forge results

The Special Prosecutor, Kissi Agyabeng, has declared that he will go after election officials who tempered with results in the presidential and parliamentary polls. According to him, the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) is cloned with powers to prosecute presiding and returning officers who forge election results. Speaking to Nana Aba Anamoah on Starr Chat Wednesday, Mr Agyabeng said that, unlike election petitions that the court’s jurisdiction has to be evoked, his office will demand an audit pink sheets if the need arises. He indicated that officers who fail to account for their stewardship will be made to face the full rigours of the law. “…false declaration in respect of elections. The public should know this; I’m not the Supreme Court, but thankfully I don’t have to wait for the collation of the pink sheets at the Supreme Court to make a case. Jubilee House disagrees with CDD report on corruption – Eugene Arhin

The Presidency has rejected a report released by the Ghana Center for Democratic Development (CDD-Ghana) which says 62 percent of Ghanaians do not trust President Akufo-Addo to fight corruption. A survey conducted by CDD-Ghana revealed that the majority of Ghanaians [62% of 2,400 persons] interviewed in a post-election survey conducted between May 23 and June 3, 2021, say they do not have confidence in the ability of President Akufo-Addo “to protect the country’s financial resources and curb corruption in the next four years”. The Presidency says, though CDD-Ghana has every right to carry out its survey, it disagrees with its findings. Speaking to journalists at the Jubilee House on Tuesday, September 7, 2021, the Director of Communications, Eugene Arhin reiterated President Akufo-Addo’s commitment to fighting corruption. “The report is not one we can easily dismiss. Yes, they have conducted their survey but we, on the other hand, believe that in the fight against corruption, no Presid

Call for youth employment summit – @JDMahama urges @NAkufoAddo

Former President John Mahama is urging President Akufo-Addo to call a summit on youth employment in a bid to find what he describes as sustainable employment for the many unemployed youths in the country. The 2020 NDC flagbearer said they are ready to be part of a national discussion involving key stakeholders to propose suggestions that could lead to permanent jobs for the youths. Youth unemployment remains a challenge in Ghana and Africa as thousands of graduates come out of school without corresponding jobs to absorb them. The situation is said to be a contributing factor to the growing crime rates and other social vices in the country. But Mr. Mahama says the NDC will help to find a lasting solution to the challenge if the government calls for it. “Two heads are better than one. We in the NDC are ready to sit down, and if the President would agree, he should call a summit on youth employment to brainstorm and suggest how we can resolve unemployment”, he explained. He said the Natio

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo said the country is working earnestly to ensure local production of the COVID-19 vaccines to control the pandemic. "Ghana's vision is to develop and produce the vaccines in the next five years, and the government, in-between time, has projected to vaccinate 20 million people by the end of 2021 against the COVID-19," he said. “The National Vaccine Manufacturing Committee, chaired by Professor Frimpong Boateng, is working assiduously to give us a road map to develop the vaccine in the period of five years. We've gone far. There is no doubt about it....our target is to have more vaccines." The President said the goal was to achieve universal coverage of vaccination and also contain the spread of the virus "whether rural or urban and nobody will be left out." President Akufo-Addo gave the assurance in response to complaints that the COVID-19 vaccines were concentrated in urban areas when he met the Nzema Manle Council a
