President Urges Development in Minning Communities

President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo addressed the need for mining companies to develop the areas where they work. This was addressed during a meeting yesterday at the West African Mining and Power Conference.The President described the deplorable state of mining areas such as Obuasi, Prestea, Tarkwa amongst others as very disgraceful. In addressing the issue President Akuffo Addo encouraged the mining firms to collaborate with the government to ensure sustainable developments in these mining communities. Medical Director of Obengfo Hospital Charged with Murder

The Medical Director of the Obengfo Hospital Doctor Dominic Obeng-Andoh,  has been charged for murder by an Accra Central District Court over the death of National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programe (NEIP) Boss Stacy Offei Darko. This follows a sudden incident when the deceased visited the hospital for a liposuction and fat transfer surgery but died on Monday 21st of May. Upon her death,the doctor ordered that her body be deposited at a different morgue by a cleaner without the consent of any family member. The cleaner was said to have presented himself as a relative of the deceased upon arrival at the St. Catholic Hospital morgue after being rejected by the previous morgue. The mother of the deceased, Nana Akosua Anima (1) says she was informed about the death of her daughter days after her demise. Rawlings Apologizes to Kuffuor and Mahama

Former President Jerry John Rawlings has rendered apologies to Former Presidents John Agyekum Kuffour and John Dramani Mahama for his careless assertion of these leaders as evil and rogue. This comment was made during a meeting with Chiefs and Elders of Mepe in the Volta Region where former President Rawlings described the two ex Presidents as corrupt. Many  Ghanaians and allies of the National Democratic Congress have reacted angrily to the statement made by the former President Rawlings describing his statement as insensitive and insulting. Registration Of National Identity Cards Kicks Off Today.

Registration and instant issuance of the National Identity Card (Ghana Card)  is set to begin Today 29th May 2018. This initiative by government is to formalise the economy by creating one card that will be used for all transactions where identification will be required. According to the Chief Executive Officer of the National Identification Authority(NIA) Mr. Ken Attafuah, the first issuance will be made for Former Heads of  State, Journalists and security officials before the General Public. With Greater Accra being the first beneficiary, Mr. Attafuah stated that,registration officials will be placed at the Flagstaff house, Parliament house, Judicial house and Security Center Institutions to commence registration. Documents required for the issuance of the National Identification Cards are a valid passport card, birth certificate,valid residential permit and any other information required by the NIA. Nana Addo has Failed to Live up to Expectation- Kwakye Ofosu

Former deputy Communications Minister of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Felix Kwakye Ofosu  has blamed the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for not being able to live up to the expectations of Ghanaians since they assumed power in 2016.  According to him, the expectations of Ghanaians has been cut short since the incumbent government has not been able to deliver on the numerous promises it made to Ghanaians even after 17 months in power. He believes that Ghanaians disappointment with the performance of the government will greatly affect the NPP’s chances of retaining power in 2020. Mr Kwakye Ofosu believes that the achievements of Mr Mahama in his four years as President sets him apart and makes him a better candidate for 2020 elections. Bank Of Ghana to Strengthen Local Banks in the Country- Prez Akuffo Addo

President of the republic of Ghana Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo has called on all Ghanaians to collaborate with the Bank of Ghana (BoG) to resolve issues with distressed local commercials banks. This follows the fear by many that the introduction of the new capital requirements by the Bank of Ghana (BoG) will lead to many local banks collapse. Aside admonishing the Central Bank to look for ways to strengthen the local banks in the country, he also added that there the need for BoG to work independently without any political interference to help restore sanity in the banking and financial sectors in the country. He also admonished the private sector to rally along with the BoG to strengthen local banks in the country. NDC will have no Campaign message in 2020- Prez Akuffo Addo

President Akuffo Addo has expressed optimism in his government by saying his government is more likely to fulfill all intended policies and programs before the end of 2020. The President also added that his political opponent the National Democratic Congress (NDC) will have no campaign message going ahead into the electoral year 2020. He also stated that within a space of 16 months his government had been able to deliver on most campaign promises that seemed impossible to the opposition party (NDC). President Akuffo Addo outlined a number of policies his administration has been able to fulfill amongst which included the Free SHS policy, restoration of teacher training and nursing allowances, institution of Nation Builders Corps, reduction in light bill tariffs amongst others. President Akuffo Addo Begins Nation Wide Tour

President Akuffo Addo has begun his three-days tour to Brong Ahafo Region today. His tour would be in nine main constituencies Nkoranza North, Techiman South, Techiman North, Asunafo North, Asunafo South, Asutifi South, Tano North, Sunyani East and Sunyani West. On his visit, the President will commission an administrative block for the Techiman North District at Tuobodom,cut the sod for the construction of a District Hospital at Nkoranza and commission a new Divisional Police Headquarters for the Techiman Municipality among other projects. Aside these the President will cut the sod for the construction of an administrative block for the Asunafo North District Assembly and inspect other ongoing projects in the region. Military Police Attack: Police did not follow the right Procedure Rtd.Capt

Retired military captain, Rtd. Capt. Joel Sowu says the recent attack on some policemen in the Northern region by some military personnel was because of the failure of the police  in following the due procedure in solving crime with the military. According to the retired Soldier, the police officer was supposed to first report the soldier to his Commander who would have initiated punitive measures to put the officer in check. According to news reaching Penplusbytes, the clash begun when some soldiers in the Northern Regional capital, Tamale went on to attack police officers and some residents following the arrest of their colleague who was reported to have assaulted a taxi driver. Oil Monies to boost Industralisation and Free SHS: Prez. Akuffo Addo

President of the republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo says his government is going to use money generated from oil to create more assets for the country.  According to the President his administration was not going to treat oil money like gold. He added that oil will no longer be exported in its raw state as crude. The President viewed oil money as one that could be used to transform the structure of the Ghanaian economy and improve industrialization. Aside industrialization the President also added that  revenue generated from oil will be used to fund Free Senior High School program rather than getting into the pockets of individual politicians. NDC to Revise Measures towards 2020 Elections: Rawlings Warns

Former President Jerry John Rawlings has called on the National Democratic Congress(NDC) to stop undermining one another and focus on fixing internal frictions within the party. The Former President brought this to bare during his meeting with former NDC metropolitan, municipal and and district chief executives at Mensvic Hotel in Accra on Saturday 12th May 2018.  Appalled by the current situation of the party, he made known that the NDC was more focused on putting the siting government to their toes rather than putting measures in place to win the 2020 elections. He also added that the NDC lost 2016 elections because of their inability to get to the grassroots and inspire confidence in sympathisers. He has admonished all to do their homework, work together and develop measures that would ensure that they win the incoming elections. New Mobile Money Payment Interoperability System Takes Off

  Vice President of the Republic of Ghana Dr Mahamudu Bawumia Yesterday 11th May launched the first ever Mobile Money Interoperability System in Accra. The service allows uninterrupted transfer of funds from one mobile money wallet to all other mobile network and also cause monies to be moved from mobile money accounts to various bank accounts without any challenges. This the Vice President said would create a more convenient way to access money and also improve domestic revenue mobilization. He also added that the new system would be a means to involving the informal sector into contributing to economic growth. He thus applauded all financial stakeholders for working hard to implement the Mobile Money Interoperability System. Meanwhile, Fintech experts have said that there will be a release of phase two of the interoperability platform which will complete the financial inclusion triangle by ensuring movement of monies across banks,e-zwich and Telcos. Akufo Addo Suspends 4 High Court Judges

President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo on the advice of the judicial Council has suspended four High Court Judges with immediate effect. These four judges were part of the 12 High Court judges who were captured by investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas in an audio and video recording taking bribes from plaintiffs to pervert justice.The suspended judges are in the persons of Mr. Justice Uter Paul Dery, Mr. Justice Mustafa Logoh, Mr. Justice Gilbert Ayisi Addo and Mr. Justice Charles Quist. Meanwhile, the President on the advice of the Judicial Council suspended with immediate effect these four High Court judges on Tuesday 8th May 2018 in accordance to Article 146(10) (b) of the Constitution. Hajia Fati Apologises to Adom FM Reporter

Hajia Fati a staunch supporter of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has rendered apologies to all pressmen and the entire media for her wrongful act of slapping Ohemaa Sakyiwaa a journalist with the Multimedia group last Friday. The incidence which took place on Friday April 4th occurred when Hajia Fati landed a slap on the face of the journalist Ohemaa Sakyiwaa when she tried taking a photo of her after she had prevented the suspended vice chairman Sammy Crabbe from picking up nomination forms to contest for the party’s chairmanship position. Meanwhile, Adom FM’s News Editor, Afia Pokua, said the company expected an official communique from the NPP on the matter of the apology. NPP Condemns Hajia Fati’s Attack on Journalist

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has condemned Hajia Fati’s attack on a journalist with the Multimedia group, Ohemaa Sakyiwaa. The incidence took place on Friday April 4 th when Hajia Fati prevented the suspended Vice chairman Sammy Crabbe from securing nomination forms to contest for the Party’s Chairmanship position. Hajia Fati landed a slap on the face of the journalist when she tried taking a photo of her after she had prevented the former vice chairman from picking up forms. In a statement signed by the General Secretary of the NPP , the party stated that it had maximum respect for and cherished the role of the media as partners in development and will not condone any action intended to suppress press freedom. CEO of Gas and Cylinder Company Suspended

Chief Executive Director (CEO) of the Ghana Cylinder Manufacturing Limited (GCMC) Madam Frances Essiam has been suspended by Board Members of the organisation. Her suspension was on the back of a disagreement that occurred amongst Board Members during which Madam Essiam locked out Board Members from holding a meeting at the work premises on Tuesday. She was also accused of contracting a loan to pay salaries of workers without the approval of the board. Meanwhile, Madam Essiam has denied all claims leveled against her and has hinted to resort to the court if she finds the actions of the board in contrast with the operations of the company. Unemployed Nurses Protest Against NaBCo

A huge crowd of Professionals forming the Ghana Nurses and Midwifery Trainees Association of Ghana yesterday embarked on a massive demonstration to kick against governments NaBCo program. Dressed in their uniforms with red bands around their arms, these nurses journeyed through Kwame Nkrumah Interchange through to Accra Hearts of Oak Park to display their displeasure with governments new NaBCo policy declaring their intention to vote the incumbent government out of power in 2020 if their needs are not addressed. Aside describing NaBCo as a scam,the group also felt the policy was hand to mouth and therefore deserved better conditions. Meanwhile the group in a petition addressed to the Vice President of Ghana,Dc. Mahamudu Bawumia gave a two weeks ultimatum for government to review the policy. Improper Selection Process For NaBCo Could Lead to Misapplication of Resources – Serlom Branttie

Vice President of IMANI Africa Serlom Branttie says the lack of a selection criteria for the National Builders Corps (NaBCo) will only lead to misapplication of resources. Viewing the situation as critical, he added that government would not know if applicants are suited for the jobs they would be deployed into and also complained about whether a quality testing system would be used to test these graduates before being put into various positions. Comparing NaBCo to the Youth Employment Agency, Branttie said it was more likely for recruits to be employed out of the blue as have happened in the past. Press Freedom Important to the 4th Republic- Pres Akuffo Addo

President of the republic of Ghana Nana Akuffo Addo during the world Press Freedom Day Awards Dinner held at Kempinski delivered a speech stating that the 4 th Republic has been committed to the principles of democratic accountability, respect for individual liberties and human rights and the Rule of Law. With the Constitution of the 4th Republic guaranteeing freedom of expression, including freedom of the press and other media, as a fundamental human right, and making elaborate provisions to protect the freedom and independence of the media, President Akufo-Addo stated that the existing laws, which were continued in force by the same Constitution, contained colonial laws on the country’s statute books that were manifestly anti-libertarian, and repressive of free expression. Bugri Naabu Rejects Cash Donation from Newly Elected Chairman

Mr. Sheraz an assistant to the Outgone Northern Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party Bugri Naabu has brought to bare that the rejection of a cash donation from the newly elected regional chairman was not an act of bitterness. Rebutting all claims that suggested that the former Northern Regional Chairman Bugri Naabu rejected the cash donation out of bitterness, Sheraz said the money was rejected politely. The money which was intended to cater for the medical bills of Bugari Naabu according to Bugri Naabu was not needed now because he was now out of the hospital. NPP Opens Nominations for National Positions

Today marks the opening of nominations for persons who wish to contest various national positions in the New Patriotic Party(NPP). Nominations will be open for seven for aspiring candidates.  By the constitution of NPP, potential aspirant must be an active and known member in good standing for at least the last five years. Aspirant must be a staunch member who conforms to constitutional rules and must be a registered voter with a Biometric ID card issued by electoral commission of Ghana. Aspirants are to purchase nomination forms with National Chairperson paying GH10, 000, Vice Chairperson paying GH8, 000, General Secretary going for GH6, 000 and GH5, 000 for any other position. Your Integrity Is At Stake,Fight Fake news- Prez Akuffo Addo

President of the Republic of Ghana Nana Addo Danquah Akuffo Addo has cautioned the Ghanaian media to be on the look out for Fake News in the dispensation of their work. Speaking at the World Press Freedom Awards Dinner Yesterday, the President mentioned that the integrity of the media is at stake stating in his address that the dominance of fake news in the system is likely to undermine democracies. Addressing fake news as a global phenomenon he advised that the  whole world of media practitioners must determine to confront and  assist the society to identify and combat fake news in the world.
