Prez Akuffo Addo Fires EC Boss and Two deputies.

President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufffo Addo on Thursday fired the Electoral Commission (EC) boss Charlotte Osei together with her two deputies Mr. Amadu Sulley and Mrs. Georgina Opoku Amankwaa on the grounds of "misbehavior and incompetency". According to Information Minister Mustapha Abdul-Hamid, the removals of Charlotte Osei and her two deputies were based on a recommendation by a special committee set up by the chief justice to investigate complaints against them. After months of investigation, the committee recommended the dismissal of the EC boss and her deputies on the basis of misbehavior and incompetency in pursuant to Article 146(1) of the Constitution. Meanwhile, Opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has planned to stage a protest today against the dismissal of the EC boss and her two deputies. NDC Disagrees with Ex-Prez Rawlings on Ghana Card

Members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) have disregarded the decision of ex-President Rawlings to register for Ghana Card. Although ex-President Rawlings expressed concerns on the use of ID cards as ideal and a means to get those living in the rural areas to secure their cards, minority in parliaments have showed dissatisfaction with his act of registering for the card when party members in parliament were not in favour with all its requirements. Minority leader of parliament, Mr James Avedzi says minority is not moved by the actions of the ex President. He also added that all minority persons in parliament shall refuse to register until their concerns are addressed. Meanwhile ex-President Rawlings has shared his views on the issuance of the Ghana card siding with the minority in parliament. 18 Years old Entrepreneur Wins Maiden Presidential Pitch

An 18 year old female entrepreneur, Miss Vanessa Aisha Limann has emerged winner of the Maiden Presidential Pitch which took place in Accra. The project was purposely designed and organized by the Ministry of Business Development to give opportunities to young Ghanaian entrepreneurs between the ages of 18 and 35 to market their business ideas and get financial assistance to implement those ideas. The winner, Vanessa as part of her package home, was also given GH 25,000 as personal donation from the president of the Ghana H. E. Nana Akuffo Addo. The president upon   addressing the participants said that, the government would continue to create the environment for enterprising and innovative ideas of youth to develop into great industries in the future. The Minister of Business Development, Dr Mohammed Ibrahim Awal also encouraged the participants to persevere and not shy away from the least challenge on their journey of building a great industry. Nobody Asked Anita to Beg Ex President Rawlings- Asiedu Nketiah

Secretary to the National Democratic Congress( NDC) Johnson Asiedu Nketiah says Anita Desooso, the party's former national women's organiser had no permission from the party to go ahead and beg the founder of the party Ex- President Jerry John Rawlings. He also added that the former national women's organiser deserved the embarrassment she went through when Ex-President Rawlings asked her to stop bleaching. According to the party's secretary, Anita Desooso had no reason for apologizing to the founder of the party. He also added that Anita could probably have apologized to President Rawlings for personal reasons because the party had committed no offence to render that apology. NPP Rebuts Incorruptible Claims by Ex President Mahama

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has rebutted all claims by Former President Mahama that suggest that he is incorruptible.  Madam Joyce Bawah Mogtari, a personal spokesperson of President Mahama had earlier said that unlike Nana Akufo-Addo, Mr Mahama is incorruptible. This came as a response to a petition written to the Special Prosecutor, Martin Amidu, calling for investigations into an allegation that John Mahama diverted funds for developments.  Mrs Joyce Bawah also alleged that this was a quick act by the NPP to divert attention from their governments corrupt practices,instead of dealing with it. The NPP have viewed these comments by special aide as rude and uncalled for describing former President Mahama's administration as one that is synonymous to corruption. Nyantekyi Accuses Anas and His Team for $150,000 Bribe

Recently resigned President of the Ghana Football Association, Kwesi Nyantekyi has defended himself against allegations of corruption leveled against him by investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas and his team, Tiger Eye PI. The former president who was recently seen in Anas's number 12 corruption video has alleged that Investigative Journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas and his team Tiger Eye PI entrapped him and later demanded $150,000 bribe from him to discard videos captured with him engaging in the acts of corruption. According to Nyantekyi, his failure to provide the said amount led to his public disgrace. Aside the above, Mr Nyantekyi also alleged that his personal email account was hacked into by Anas in order to implicate him. He has therefore charged Anas to play for public to analyse the unedited version of the entire recordings that were made during the process of the investigation. Tony Lithur Files For Divorce

Husband to former politician and gender activist Mrs Oye Lithur  has filed a petition at the divorce and matrimonial division of a high Court in Accra, seeking to bring to an end his 27 years of marriage with Mrs Oye Lithur. Mr Tony Lithur stated as part of his reasons for divorcing his wife that, his wife possessed very cruel and violent traits which largely went against her stance as the Minister of Gender, Child and Social Protection. He also added that aside being aggressive, the former minister most often threatened verbal abuse and physically beat up household staff and even relatives who came to live with them.  In his petition he also mentioned that his wife was neither a wife or a mother but was rather concerned with her public image and payed little attention to the passing needs of her children. High Court Orders 10 Days Ban on GFA

An Accra high court has ordered all officials of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to seize all manner of duties. This follows a motion by the Attorney General Ms Gloria Akuffo to as part of governments efforts, restructure the GFA because of the recent corruption scandal that has hit the country. The recent investigation by investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas and his tiger eye team revealed very top football officials including the President of the GFA Kwesi Nyantekyie engaging in corruption  acts that involved huge amounts of money. Meanwhile, the 10 days ban also requires members and officials of the GFA to refrain from organizing matches and appointing any new officials. Wa-Naa pleads on Kwesi Nyantakyi's behalf

The Overlord of Waala Traditional Area,Naa Fuseini Seidu Pelpuo IV, has pleaded to President Akufo-Addo and all Ghanaians to forgive his son Kwesi Nyantakyi,the former Ghana Football Association (GFA) president, over his alleged acts of corruption. President Nana Akufo-Addo on Tuesday ordered for the arrest of President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kwesi Nyantakyi, for defrauding by false pretences. Kwesi Nyantekyi was recently caught in a video footage captured by investigative journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas using the name of the President Akuffo Addo, Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia and other state officials to peddle influence to secure an amount of $12million. Government Moves To Dissolve GFA

Government has declared clear intentions of dissolving the Ghana Football Association (GFA). This follows the public show of the documentary by investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas "NUMBER 12" which revealed in entirety the manner of fraud and corruption in the GFA. A Statement issued by the Minister of Information, Mr. Mustapha Abdul-Hamid yesterday read that government was shocked and outraged  at the contents of the recently-aired video. The government also said it will communicate provisional measures to govern football activity in the country after taking steps to dissolve the GFA.  Government also says decisions made will be communicated to the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and the Federation of International Football Associations (FIFA) as soon as possible to find the way forward. Anas to Expose Rot in GFA- Int. Conference Center

Undercover Investigative Journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas is all set to reveal the rot in the Ghana Football Association. Political Parties Call For Fairness In EC Investigations

Political Parties in Ghana have called on Chief Justice Sophia A.B. Akuffo to exercise fairness in the the ongoing disagreement between top officials of the Electoral Commission. Adding their voices to the need for peace in the confines of the EC, political parties have said that the inactivities in the Electoral Commission (EC) can have serious consequences on the country's electoral calendar and undermine its hard earned democratic credentials. National Vice Chairperson Of The NDC Pleads to Restore Unity

Anita Desosoo, the National Vice Chairperson of the opposition National Democratic Congress,has rendered appologies to the party’s founder; Jerry John Rawlings to forgive all executives of the party who have wronged him. Mrs Desosoo pleaded on behalf of her executive members yesterday during the 39th anniversary of the June 4 uprising in Accra. Former President and founder of the NDC had earlier in 2016 refused to campaign for the NDC during the general elections stating that the new leaders of the party had strayed from the parties ideals of transparency, probity and accountability. Tension Brews In The Electoral Commission

Recent disagreements between EC Chairperson Mrs Charlotte Osei and her two deputies within the confines of the EC has rather escalated over the period. This has drawn the attention of many political pundits who find this inbuilt tension unhealthy for the Electoral body. According to political pundits, disagreement in the EC would go a long way to affect the referendum on the creation of new regions in October, district assembly elections in 2019 and general elections in 2020. The chairperson of the Electoral Commission Mrs Charlotte Osei was accused of abusing office in breach EC Act 1993 and engaging in frosty relationships with fellow Commissioners. It was stated that the EC chair, Madam Charlotte Osei had not held any meeting with the commission for about a year. Communications Minister Defends $89 million Contract with Kelni-GVG

Communications Minister Mrs Ursla Owusu -Ekuful has nullified all accusations of corruption against her for engaging in a contract of revenue assurance monitoring with Kelni-GVG. The said contract is a deal that is to monitor revenue losses and simbox fraud in  the telecommunications sector. The minister defended to entirety why her ministry opted for the $ 89 million dollars deal with Kelni GVG saying the new contract was going to save government a lot of money as compared to the previous contract made by the National Democratic Congress (NDC), with Subah Infosolutions. The controversy of the Kelni GVG deal begun when President of  IMANI Ghana, Mr Franklin Cudjoe raised an alarm over the cost of the project.
