Sammy Awuku to contest for Akuapem North parliamentary seat

The National Organizer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Sammy Awuku has declared his intention to contest for the seat of the Akuapem North constituency.  The 39-year-old announced his parliamentary ambition as he has already filed for nomination, via his Twitter page on November 30, 2023.  “Excited to announce that I’ve officially filed my nomination to contest the Akuapem North constituency seat! It’s a true call to service and I’m humbled by the opportunity to make a positive impact in our community”, he wrote.  The NPP will open nominations for the primaries from 20-22 December, 2023, The NPP’s main parliamentary primaries are slated for January 20, 2024. Hassan Ayariga predicts low voter turnout in 2024 election

   The Founder of the All People’s Congress (APC) party and former presidential candidate, Hassan Ayariga, has predicted that voter turnout in the   2024 election   will be much lower compared to previous years. This he said will be due to the constant deceit and poor performance of the two major political parties that have left many Ghanaians disappointed.   The Campaign Coordinator for the Vice President in the Ashanti Region, Dr. Ayew Afriyie, has announced that Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), will soon unveil enhanced and alternative policies in preparation for the 2024 general elections. Leader of the Movement for Change, Alan Kyerematen calls for support from CSOs in Ghana

  Former Trades and Industry minister, Alan John Kwadwo Kyerematen, is calling on Civil Society Organizations to support him in his bid to become the President of Ghana as the country readies for the 2024 general election.     In a meeting held with some CSOs on November 14 in Accra, he shared his vision and plans which he calls the “Great Transformational Plan (GTP)” with all present.   According to Mr.Kyeremnten, the GTP is based on 15 pillars which are characterized into five clusters: economic, infrastructure, social services, environment and natural resources, and governance. He mentioned that the details of the GTP are still being worked on, allowing for more input from stakeholders. In an interview on JoyNews' program "The Probe," he expressed the belief that retaining power in the 2024 election will pose a formidable challenge. Polls have opened in an internal party election to select the new leader and flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) ahead of the 2024 general elections. A total of 203,439 delegates are expected to cast their ballots in this decisive vote.   Polls officially opened at 8 am GMT and are expected to close at 2pm GMT across all voting centres in all the 276 constituencies of the country and the Party Headquarters, at Asylum Down in Accra. The Greater Accra Region has 39,134 delegates making it the region with the highest number of delegates. This is closely followed by the Ashanti Region with 34,987 delegates, with the Oti Region having the lowest number of 3,490 delegates. Four candidates are running in the flagbearership race. They are Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, Member of Parliament for Assin Central Constituency, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, former Agric Minister, Dr Owusu Akoto Afriyie, and former Member of Parliament for Mampong Constituency, Francis Addai-Nimoh. The New Patriotic Party (NPP) is gearing up for its internal party primaries scheduled for Saturday, November 4, 2023. The primary goal of this election is to elect a flagbearer who will lead the New Partriotic Party for the upcoming 2024 presidential elections. With election day drawing closer, many eyes are on the two leading candidates: vice president Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and Kennedy Agyapong. The journey to the primaries began with the Super Delegates Congress on August 26, 2023, which aimed at narrowing down the field of aspirants to five, as mandated by the party's constitution. Samuel Tettey, the Deputy Electoral Commission, stated that this measure is being implemented to ensure that flood victims are not deprived of their right to vote. During a press conference addressing electoral roll matters, Tettey explained, "Regarding other identification details, I cannot provide specific information. However, if you have lost your voter ID card but your name is correctly registered in the voter roll, you will still be eligible to vote without the voter ID card." This public exhibition will occur at all 38,622 polling stations nationwide, spanning from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. during the entire duration of the event. The primary objective of this exhibition is to enable potential voters to cross-check their information, including their name, age, gender, and designated polling station, and to request any necessary corrections or inclusions.
