We’ll win 2024 election despite who they bring – Mahama reacts to NPP’s 10 aspirants

Image
Former President John Dramani Mahama exudes unwavering confidence in his political party, the National Democratic Congress (NDC), as he looks forward to securing victory in the upcoming December 2024 general election. Despite the emergence of 10 aspirants vying for the ruling New Patriotic Party's (NPP) nomination, the ex-president remains unshaken. During an interview with KSM, the former president asserted that these aspirants lack a compelling message to convey to the Ghanaian people, as they all seem to be perpetuating President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo's 'poor' policies and legacy. “The first thing to note is that they are all going to run on Nana Addo’s legacy. They are all inheriting the mess they have made for Ghanaians. I don’t see who is going to be more than the other,” remarked Mr Mahama. Additionally, the former president expressed his anticipation for the selection process within the NPP, where five aspirants will be chosen, while the remaining

NPP presidential aspirants to sign undertaking to avoid disunity after polls

All 10 Presidential aspirants of the NPP must sign an undertaking agreeing not to run as independent presidential candidates or represent any other political party if they are not selected by the delegates in the primary. Additionally, the aspirants are required to sign another undertaking with the party, pledging their commitment to support the eventual winner of the party's presidential candidate election process. The rules and regulations were issued by the National Council of NPP yesterday to guide aspirants during, before and after its upcoming presidential and parliamentary primaries. Failure to adhere to these commitments may result in the party taking appropriate measures against the candidate. The approved aspirants by the National Council of the party are Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, Kwadwo Poku, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Boakye Kyerematen Agyarko, and Kwabena Agyei Agyepong. The remaining aspirants are: Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, Dr. Kofi Konadu Apraku, Dr. Owusu Akoto A

NPP against LGBTQ+ - National Chairman declares

Image
Stephen Ntim, the National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has stated that the party is against the practice of LGBTQ+ in the country. In a commemorative address delivered yesterday at the PIWC-Atomic in Accra to mark the first anniversary of the assumption of office by the current NPP national executives, Mr. Ntim emphatically declared that the party and its national executives would not compromise their principles by endorsing LGBTQ+ rights in the country. Mr. Ntim acknowledged the deep-rooted religious and moral values held by the party and the nation, which strongly discourage such practices and will not deviate from them. “The good Lord wants us to continue to populate this earth that he has put at our disposal. How do we achieve that commandment if we are going to resort to LGBTQ+. There is no way we can answer that question. “If we are going to answer it means it is contrary to the dictates of the good book, the Bible. It also means if we are going to follow t

We won’t forget you should we regain power in 2024 – Mahama to Assin North constituents

Image
Former President John Dramani Mahama has assured the people of Assin North that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) will prioritize their needs if the party emerges victorious in the 2024 general election. Mahama made these remarks during the 'Thank You Tour' of the Constituency, following the re-election of James Gyakye Quayson as Member of Parliament in a recent bye-election. He emphasized that the NDC's triumph in Assin North signifies their readiness to reclaim power and expressed optimism about the party's chances in the upcoming elections, considering the constituency's historical significance in Ghana.   “If history is being written about elections in Ghana, the people of Assin North will have their name written in gold. The victory in this bye-election is the beginning of our march to recapture power.   “We are carrying the same momentum to the 2024 general election. I have faith in the Almighty God to grant the NDC victory in the next election.

We will resist and prevent any sinister plot – Mahama to EC

John Mahama, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has expressed the party's determination to confront electoral irregularities in the upcoming 2024 election. He alleges that the Electoral Commission (EC) may be inclined to manipulate the election outcomes. The former President asserts that the EC's recent directive requiring the use of the Ghana Card for voter identification could disenfranchise certain Ghanaians. Despite facing opposition from some segments of the population, the Electoral Commission is proceeding with the implementation of the Ghana Card for the compilation of the new voters' register. Consequently, individuals without a Ghana Card will be unable to participate in the 2024 general elections. John Mahama criticizes this directive as unnecessary. He also believes that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) will take advantage of the flexible leadership and activities of the EC to hold onto power. “The New Patriotic Party led by Pre

Gyakye Quayson to be sworn in today

Image
James Gyakye Quayson, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament for Assin North, will be sworn in today, July 4, as the MP-elect for the area. He was re-elected on June 27, after the Supreme Court on May 17 declared that his previous election was illegal.   However, Quayson is also facing a forgery case at the High Court, and is expected to be there today to begin his daily trial.  The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, has described the daily trial as unacceptable. “We just have elected a fresh MP and I have to go and swear him in to start his work. The same thing I complained about is still happening. They are chasing after him, and trying to prosecute him, even though, we know that, what they are talking about, there are even more of us who have the same thing, but they are not being prosecuted,” Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin stated. James Gyakye Quayson of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) was re-elected as the Member of Parliament for As
