I Had Support From The Presidency- Gt. Accra Chairman Reveals

 Divine Oto Agorhom the newly sworn-in Greater Accra Chairman of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) has revealed that he was supported by the Presidency in his campaign for the regional chairmanship position. According to the Greater Accra Chairman he received support from the Presidency in cash and advice during his campaign for the Greater Accra Chairmanship position in Accra. This was brought to public notice during his interview with Eyewitness News on Monday 23rd April 2018. Meanwhile Mr. Agorhom has also admitted that he paid Ghc100  to each delegate to gain some votes for himself only to have a hand full of delegates vote for him. Critics Of 988 Staffers are Mere Hypocrites- Prof Gyampo

The Director of the Center of European Studies in the University of Ghana Professor Gyampo has described politicians who are criticizing the 988 workers under the incumbent administration as hypocrites and propagandists. He mentioned that not all 988 staff was employed by President Akuffo Addo's current government stating that some of the staff were chosen from the previous Mahama government. Admitting that the number was on the higher side he advised that government communicators should take the pain to explain the role of various staff members to make things clear to the public. Nation Builders Corps To Be Launched on 1st May 2018- Dr. Bawumia

The Vice President of the Republic of Ghana, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has announced the launch of the Nation Builders Corps (NABCO). This major initiative by government was announced on Saturday 21st April, 2018 at Winneba when the Vice President was delivering an address to the 2016/2017 graduates of the University of Education, Winneba at the University’s 22nd Congregation In addressing the Students, he added that the new programme (NABCO) was going to solve the problem of unemployment in the country by employing 100,000 graduates who have completed their National Service and are in wait to be employed and also solve other pressing needs in the country. The major programme to tackle graduate unemployment in Ghana is set to be launched by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on 1st May 2018. Stop Critiquing Afrobarometer Report, Focus on Voting Patterns- Analyst Advice Politicians

Two political Analysts Mr. Fredrick Oduro and Doc. Bossman Asare have advised politicians to cut down on their attack on the Afrobarometer results and focus on the likely voting patterns of Ghanaians. Afrobarometer is a non partisan research network that conducts public attitude surveys on democracy,governance,economic conditions and other related issues across Africa. The National Democratic Congress(NDC) has heavily critiqued the Afrobarometer reports that has indicated that 49% of Ghanaians are likely to re vote the New Patriotic Party(NPP) to power whilst only 22% of respondents vouched to vote the NDC into power. NDC likely to lose in 2020- Hamid to NDC

Hon Mustapha Abdul-Hamid the Minister for information has said on Adom FM’s show Burning Issues that the NPP is more likely to win elections in 2020 than the National Democratic Congress. He added that the NDC was more likely to lose 2020 elections if the past President John Dramani Mahama still stands as the Presidential candidates . President Akuffo Addo Addresses US Military Base Controversy: Opposition Reacts

President Nana Akuffo Addo in addressing the controversy over the alleged siting of a US military base in the country has explained that Ghana has no plans of offering the United States the space to set up a military base in the country. He indicated that the USA had also not placed any such request to set up a military base in Ghana. The President advised all Ghanaians to ignore all “naysayers and hypocrites”. He further admonished all to focus their energies on working together to archive the goal of a happy and prosperous Ghana. Meanwhile, some members of the NDC have described the rather emotional delivery as extremely defamatory. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa a ranking member of the Foreign Affairs Committee of Parliament described the President’s speech as “intolerant and insulting”. Deputy Finance Minister Expresses Shock over NAGRAT’s Indefinite Strike

The Deputy Finance Minister Mrs Abena Osei Asare has complained bitterly about the action taken by National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT) to embark on an indefinite strike following the inability of government to pay their salary arrears of Gh50 million. Describing them as an unfaithful group of people, Mrs Asare stated that government had taken a step to pay the arrears of 2010 just yesterday 5 th March 2018. She also added that she found it shocking that NAGRAT could declare a nationwide strike action even though some payments have been made. NAGRAT declared an indefinite strike yesterday owing to government’s inability to fulfill their mandate of paying an outstanding of Gh50 million salary arrears to members of the association. Mahama Accused Of Helping To Rig Elections in Sierra Leone

Some Sierra Leoneans as well as members of the All Peoples Congress Party (APC) led by Samura Kamara have leveled accusation on former Ghanaian President John Dramani Mahama as having conspired with Opposition party Sierra Leone Peoples Party(SLPP) led by Rtd Brigadier Maada Bio to rig Presidential elections. The Former President John Dramani Mahama who was sent as a leader of the commonwealth Observer Missions group was accused to have meddled with election results that was held on the 7th of March. According to Sierra Leoneans, the former Presidents brother is suspected to have provided support to opposition leader Rtd Brigadier Maada Bio. The opposition SLPP won first round with 43.3% against the ruling APC which had 42.7%. Support The Office Of The Special Prosecutor-President To New Appeal Court Judges

President Akuffo Addo has charged the Judiciary to provide maximum support to the office of Special prosecutor in other to combat corruption in the country.This was said yesterday during the swearing in ceremony of the five newly appointed judges of the Appeal Court at the Jubilee House. Describing their role as crucial, President Akuffo Addo admonished the newly appointed judges to use the power invested in them to ensure that rule of Law is preserved and adhered to at all times. He also mentioned that the office of the Special Prosecutor was created to ensure accountability of public officials both past and present who had engaged in corrupt activities and financial malfeasance's hence the need for them to support the office. NAGRAT Embarks On An Indefinite Strike

The National Association of Graduate Teachers(NAGRAT) has begun an indefinite strike owing to Governments inability to fulfill their mandate of paying outstanding arrears  to the members of the association. According to NAGRAT government currently owes its membership an amount of Gh50 million salary arrears which has been outstanding since 2013. Speaking at a press conference yesterday Mr. Eric Agbe- Carbonu, President of NAGRAT stated that the association was fed up with the unfulfilled promises from government and called on all members to lay down their tools immediately and after Senior High Schools reopen. No TIN ,No Business Transactions- Mr Emmanuel Kofi Nti

Commissioner General of  the Ghana Revenue Authority Mr Emmanuel Kofi Nti has announced to all individuals to ensure that they have acquired a Taxpayer Identification Number without which they will be unable to transact business. A Taxpayer Identification Number is a special number generated by GRA for persons including corporate entities upon application. Addressing Journalists in Accra yesterday Mr. Kofi Nti stated that effective 3rd April, all individuals without the TIN  would be denied access to drivers license,open bank accounts, have a passport or or be able to transact business with any state institution.  He added that institutions such as the passport office,DVLA, GRA, Land Commission and the Law Court would all require a TIN in order to provide services to clients. After implementation of the  policy yesterday, he urged all public institutions and banks to be on the look out and not transact businesses with individuals without a TIN. US Military Deal- Mahama Exposed!

The US military deal has faced several protest from Ghanaians, and also from opposition party the National Democratic Congress (NDC). The recent uproar in the Ghana has ignited a lot of demonstrations across the regions of Ghana. Reports reaching Penplusbytes indicates that the idea to set up a military base for the US military was introduced by Ex President,John Dramani Mahama and the NDC administration. The NDC was said to have engaged in a secret agreement with the Americans in Stuttgart,Germany where the Americans signed their portion of the agreement and passed it on to their counterparts in Ghana. The deal was signed by the former Foreign Affairs Minister Hannah Tetteth without passing through parliament for approval. Ranking member on Ghana's Foreign Affairs committee Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa in an article released on Monday 2nd April has criticized  the President Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo over his silence on the US Military deal. In his article he stated that the silence of the sitting President was only going to increase ongoing allegations as series of demonstrations was yet to begin in all regions of Ghana. Quoting Nkrumah, he also mentioned that Ghana had the right to determine its own destiny hence the need for government to be critical on the issue. He also added that the consequences of this agreement he feared could have a negative outcome on the Ghanaian society if the President continued to  negligent about the complaints of Ghanaians.
