Agricult Lithovit Fertilizer Was Not Tested Before Use- Standard Authority Reveals

The Attorney General last week leveled 27 charges on the former Chief Executive Officer of Cocoa Board Dr. Stephen Kwabena Opuni including willfully causing financial loss to the state.

The Ghana Standard Authority together with other institutions have confirmed that the Agricult Lithovit Fertilizer contracted from Agricult Ghana Limited by Cocobod was contaminated and could not be classified as Fertilizer.

Investigations from the Chemistry Department of the University of Ghana also indicates that the amount of Lithovit found in the sample examined was very small and could compromise the outcome of its application on cocoa farms. The Department explained further that aside being harmful, it was not tested by the Cocoa Resaerch Institute of Ghana (CRIG) before its approval.

Meanwhile Dr. Stephen Kwabena Opuni has been scheduled to appear before court on the 23rd of March,2018.
