Ghana Immigration Repatriates Businessman

Mr Ashock Kumar Sivaram Manager of Jai Mai Communications has been repatriated by the Ghana Immigration Service following the expiration of his work permit. Served a noticeto leave on the 9th of March 2018 the Ghana Immigration Service quoted that the presence of Mr Ashock Kumar Sivaram in the country was not in accordance with Section 20 of the Immigration Act 2000(Act 573).

Following the decision of GIS to repatriate Ashock Kumar Sivaram, workers have lunched a demonstration at their work premises advocating for the return of their boss. Workers during the demonstration yesterday indicated that the company had over 300 employees hence repatriating their boss meant denying over 300 people their jobs. Workers have pleaded with government to intervene and extend the work permit of their boss.

Meanwhile, the Supreme Court have held that the businessman be repatriated rebutting the decision of the High Court to restore Mr Sivaram’s work permit and residence.
