Ghana’s Primary Education Suffers Financial Crisis

A report published by the Overseas Development Institute (ODI) in collaboration with the University of Ghana Business School Titled “Leaving no One Behind in the Health and Education Sectors” has brought to bare how pre- primary levels of Education suffers inadequate funding.

The report states that funding per pupil at primary and kindergarten level has decreased immensely with focus on Free Senior High School.

Dr Abdul – Gafuru, Senior Lecturer of the University of Ghana Business School added that if Free Senior High School was targeted towards the marginalized in society, more resources could be pushed into the basic education sector. He advocated for civil society and other members with interest in education to mount political pressure by building debates for greater policy focus on pre- primary and primary education.
