I Have been Sabotaged - EC Boss Fires Back

The electoral Commissions Chairperson Mrs Charlotte Osei has fired back at five commissioners who have accused her of turning her position to a Sole Commissioner and not holding meetings.

In retaliating, the EC Boss has accused these five commissioners for holding meetings without inviting her and not informing her about the outcome of the meeting either. In suggesting that she has been sabotaged,she added that the action of these commissioners had denied her the prerogative to convene commission meetings.

She also mentioned that the commission has not called any meeting because of the peculiar and unusual situation the commission finds itself in.

Cabinet Approves RTI bill to be Set before Parliament

Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has disclosed that cabinet has approved the Right to Information Bill and it has been sent to parliament for debate and approval. His announcement comes after increased agitations from civil groups, like the Right to Information Coalition that Penplusbytes is part of, pushing for the passage of the Bill, which has been on the shelves for nearly two decades. Right to Information is a fundamental human right guaranteed by the country’s 1992 constitution and recognised as a right under the International Conventions on Human Rights. The rationale behind the bill is to give right and access to official information held by public institutions, private entities which perform public functions with public funds.
