We won’t forget you should we regain power in 2024 – Mahama to Assin North constituents

Former President John Dramani Mahama has assured the people of Assin North that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) will prioritize their needs if the party emerges victorious in the 2024 general election.

Mahama made these remarks during the 'Thank You Tour' of the Constituency, following the re-election of James Gyakye Quayson as Member of Parliament in a recent bye-election.

He emphasized that the NDC's triumph in Assin North signifies their readiness to reclaim power and expressed optimism about the party's chances in the upcoming elections, considering the constituency's historical significance in Ghana.

 “If history is being written about elections in Ghana, the people of Assin North will have their name written in gold. The victory in this bye-election is the beginning of our march to recapture power.

 “We are carrying the same momentum to the 2024 general election. I have faith in the Almighty God to grant the NDC victory in the next election.”

Mr Mahama also assured the Assin North constituents that the party will support Mr Quayson with his ongoing criminal trials.

“The Dormaahene who is a respected High Court judge has appealed to President Akufo-Addo and the Attorney General to discontinue the case because the prosecution is needless. But people vilified him for making such an appeal.

“Whatever they do, for us in the NDC, if the Attorney General discontinues the case, we’ll be okay with that, if he continues the prosecution, our support for Gyakye Quayson will remain resolute. We’ll support him in the morning, afternoon and evening,” he stressed.

 A group of Civil Society Organizations in the energy sector have called on the government to publish the names of third-party dealers involved in the ‘Gold for Oil’ programme. The call comes after some oil marketing companies (OMCs) withdrew from the programme due to unresolved concerns.  The Ghana Chamber of Bulk Oil Distributors has also expressed concerns about the implementation of the programme. Leader of the Movement for Change, Alan Kyerematen calls for support from CSOs in Ghana

  Former Trades and Industry minister, Alan John Kwadwo Kyerematen, is calling on Civil Society Organizations to support him in his bid to become the President of Ghana as the country readies for the 2024 general election.     In a meeting held with some CSOs on November 14 in Accra, he shared his vision and plans which he calls the “Great Transformational Plan (GTP)” with all present.   According to Mr.Kyeremnten, the GTP is based on 15 pillars which are characterized into five clusters: economic, infrastructure, social services, environment and natural resources, and governance. He mentioned that the details of the GTP are still being worked on, allowing for more input from stakeholders.
