We’re up against a very formidable opponent – Sammy Awuku

A prominent member of the Bawumia campaign team has openly acknowledged the strength and prowess of the opposition party's candidate, John Dramani Mahama.

In an interview on JoyNews' program "The Probe," he expressed the belief that retaining power in the 2024 election will pose a formidable challenge. Even though the NPP's main contender is Mr. Mahama, he remains optimistic about their candidate's victory in the 2024 elections. Mr. Awuku emphasized that this victory would be achievable through the NPP's well-thought-out strategy, which they intend to employ. He stated, "We are facing a highly formidable opponent, but the NPP is poised to secure the 2024 win through our superior strategy, compelling message, and capabilities."

Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia secured the NPP's leadership on Saturday, November 4, after a closely contested presidential primary. During his victory speech, he called upon his fellow contenders and party members to unite and work together to fulfill the NPP's aspiration of 'breaking the 8.'

He expressed confidence in the NPP's victory in 2024, asserting, "I am confident of the NPP's success in 2024 because we need to consider the alternative. The alternative should also outline their plans. They are not newcomers to the political landscape of our nation."

Meanwhile,  Sammy Gyamfi, the National Communications Officer of the opposition, is issuing a warning to the Ghanaian electorate, advising them against casting their votes for Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in the 2024 general elections. In a Facebook post on Sunday, November 5, 2023, he stated that  Dr. Bawumia may protect the family and associates of the Akufo-Addo government, preventing them from being held accountable for any wrongdoing against the state.
