NPP opens nominations for flagbearership race today



The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has announced the opening of nominations for its highly anticipated flagbearership race for the upcoming 2024 general elections.

Starting today, Friday, May 26, 2023, nominations will officially open, marking a pivotal moment in the party's quest to select its candidate for the presidential election.

In an official press statement, the NPP outlined the necessary steps for interested individuals to participate in the race. The party said nomination forms will be available at the office of the General Secretary, located at the Party Headquarters in Asylum Down between 10:00 am to 5:00 pm, from Monday to Friday.

The nomination process will conclude on June 26, providing a sufficient window for potential candidates to submit their forms and join the race.

The decision to open nominations for the flagbearership race was reached during the NPP's recent National Executive Committee (NEC) and National Council meetings held on April 3, 2023.

To demonstrate their commitment, flagbearer hopefuls within the NPP will be required to pay a non-refundable nomination fee of GH¢50,000.

The NPP, in its press statement, expressed its unwavering commitment to conducting a transparent, fair, and peaceful presidential primary election. The party has called upon all stakeholders to actively contribute to the realization of this objective, emphasizing the need for collaboration to uphold the democratic values of the NPP.

The commencement of the flagbearership race sets the stage for an intense and highly competitive process within the NPP as aspirants vie for the coveted position of presidential candidate.

With the deadline for nominations approaching, all eyes will be on the Party Headquarters as eager contenders step forward to make their mark in Ghana's political landscape.
