I am Ghana's hope - Dr. Afriyie Akoto expresses confidence in leading NPP

Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto, a contender for the New Patriotic Party's (NPP) flagbearer position, exudes confidence in his quest to secure victory in the party's presidential primary set for November 4, 2023.

Dr. Akoto's conviction is firmly rooted in his vision to transform Ghana's agricultural sector through a comprehensive array of policies and programs. He underscores the pivotal role of this approach in reinvigorating the nation's economy and alleviating the persistent challenges faced by many Ghanaians.

Addressing the press at his campaign headquarters on Wednesday, September 13, 2023, after securing the third position on the ballot, Dr. Akoto positions himself as a beacon of hope for Ghana's future. He calls upon party delegates to stand firm against intimidation and external influences, urging them to unite with him in their numbers.

He declares, "I am more determined than ever to carry the NPP's flag and ultimately secure power for our party. Among all the candidates vying for the NPP's flagbearer position, who presents a more compelling vision than mine? My aspirations for the NPP and for Ghana inspire hope, which is why hundreds of thousands of Ghanaians are rallying behind me, urging me to persevere until I bring power to them. I cannot let them down."

He adds, "I embody Ghana's hope. I have already outlined the broader contours of my vision, and as the campaign progresses, countless Ghanaians have pledged their support, and I am resolute in my commitment."

Dr. Akoto, a former two-term Member of Parliament and Minister, secured the fourth position in the NPP Special Delegates Conference on Saturday, August 26, 2023.

In the lead-up to the NPP's November 4 primary, Dr. Akoto is poised to intensify his campaign efforts while fine-tuning his strategies. With over 200,000 party delegates expected to exercise their votes in this highly anticipated electoral event, sources close to Dr. Akoto's campaign team indicate his goal is to secure more than half of the delegate votes, a critical milestone in shaping the NPP's leadership for the 2024 general elections.
