Afriyie Akoto, a  flagbearer aspirant for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has expressed apprehension regarding the party's prospects in the upcoming 2024 election.

He believes that the NPP currently faces a substantial risk of losing the election due to a decline in morale among its core supporters.

Dr. Afriyie Akoto made these remarks during a media interaction in Kumasi, where he is presently conducting a tour in anticipation of the November 4th delegates' conference.

He highlighted the prevailing low morale among NPP activists across the nation, who had expected an improved quality of life. This situation, according to him, suggests that the party may not be well-positioned to secure victory in the upcoming election.

"It is evident to me that morale is at a low point. The expectations of our activists nationwide for an improved quality of life have not materialized, so the NPP may not be in a favorable position to retain power next year. We must address this issue seriously."

In an appeal to party delegates, he urged them to ensure their votes count during the November 4th conference by electing him as the party's leader.

Dr. Afriyie Akoto underscored that the well-being and success of the NPP are inherently tied to his leadership, citing his in-depth understanding of grassroots issues gained from his tenure as a Member of Parliament in Kwadaso, Kumasi.

"Anyone aspiring to carry the NPP's flag should prioritize this. I possess a clear understanding of on-the-ground problems as I have served as a Member of Parliament in Kwadaso, and thus comprehend the concerns expressed by grassroots activists."
